1920s Paragon Beatrice Mallet Teaplate

Stock No. 374

A scarce 1920s Paragon circular tea plate bearing an illustration by Beatrice Mallet of a young child pulling along a smaller child in a wooden box cart with wooden wheels, with the Legend..."Timothy who's rather small, Doesn't like to walk at all, So his sturdy sister Pam, Wheels him in this funny pram". Also bears the signature "Beatrice Mallet below the illustration.
Back of the plate bears the mark - "Lawleys' NORFOLK POTTERY STOKE PARAGON CHINA".(Lawleys' was a prestigious Regent Street store in London's West End who in the 1920s and 1930s bought in top quality ceramics from the best designers and manufacturers of the day including Paragon, Clarice Cliff, Royal Venton Ware. Often they had their own mark either combined or added to the manufacturer's mark - as is the case with this teaplate. It is not a later edition and was made and sold at the same time as similar examples carrying only the Paragon mark).
Condition is very good with only a little wear to the blue trousers on "Pam".
