Ltd. Ed. full colour Lion Tamer Teapot by Roger Michell (Sold)

Stock No. 135

Lion Tamer teapot designed and modelled by Roger Michell at his Lustre Pottery and decorated in colours by Danka Napriokowska. This was intended to be a strictly limited edition of only 50 polychrome and monochrome examples, but only 25 examples were actually made before the edition was closed! Each pot is numbered and initialled by Roger Michell under the glaze on the base. A limitation certificate signed by Roger Michell and Danka Napriokowska will also be provided.

Roger Michell says of this pot "in the style and mood of the Tipoo Tiger gravy boat (now worth up to several thousand pounds - if you are lucky enough to find an example), although its shape is more rounded. The tiger's tail is the handle, the tamer's hat is the spout."

The dark humour concept of this pot is that a lion tamer has no business messing with tigers!
