Scarce porcelain teaplate from the
Pixie Playtime Series
, designed by
J. A. Robinson
and made by
Paragon China
in the 1920's and illustrated with pixies / elves at various activities. This is from the same series as the porcelain mugs -items 150 and 300 on this website.
Transfer printed and hand-painted in enamels.
Condition is excellent apart from 2 tiny yellow stains in the cream ground - one at three-o-clock, the other at six-o-clock - only noticed on close inspection.
Bearing the printed mark "ROYAL PARAGON BY APPOINTMENT" within a recangular border containing the Royal Coat of Arms - and below "MADE IN ENGLAND REGD."

(This series "Pixie Playtime" was not mentioned by Maureen Batkin in her excellent book "Gifts for Good Children - The History of Children's China Part II 1890 -1990" but she does mention on page 122, one piece with the legend "Please Ring" confusingly in connection with the "Future Telling Series. We have a milk jug with that legend see item 89 on this site which clearly is from this same Pixie Playtime Series.)
